Three (3) political parties in Ebonyi state have collapsed their structures to support the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, in the forthcoming election on 11th March, 2023.

Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, a two-term Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, currently represents Izzi West constituency at the State Legislature.

The gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Edward Nkwegu; that of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Mr Sunday Adolawam; and the Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate, Mr Chukwuma Nwandugo, dumped their gubernatorial pursuits to rally round the APC governorship aspirant.

The national president of Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum, Comrade Ben Nwovu, disclosed this while addressing journalists on the issue at the Abakaliki Township Stadium in the state capital.

Comrade Ben Nwovu commended the three candidates highly for their patriotic dispositions in coming with their party members to support the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
“I thank the people of Ebonyi state for believing in equity and justice.
“Our gratitude goes to Edward Nkwegu, Senator Sylvanus Ngele, Mr Sylvester Ogbaga, Sunday Adolawam and Chukwuma Nwandugo for collapsing their governorship ambition just to make sure that Mr Francis Nwifuru emerges winner, as the next governor of Ebonyi state. I commend them highly,” Nwovu said.
He, however, called on Mr Fidelis Nwankwo to stop allowing himself to be used in deceiving members of the public into believing that he is the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the next election, as the youths would apply legal means to stop that, if he continues with such antics.
“We can not allow what happened in the last presidential and National Assembly election, where Anselm Enigwe faked his candidacy in Labour Party and people voted for him foolishly, to repeat itself again,” Nwovu warned.
