The national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, says only the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can suspend him from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
This is following the announcement of his suspension from the PDP and a vote of no confidence passed on him on Sunday by his Igyorov council ward in Gboko local government area of Benue State, North-central Nigeria.
According to Dr. Ayu, his suspension, as announced by some members of his ward executives, is only being teleguided by political gamblers to cause mischief within the party.

A press statement from Simon Imobo-Tswam, Special Adviser to the PDP National Chairman on Media and Communications, states that:

“Article 57(7) of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017 expressly prohibits any organ of the party or executive committee of the party at the ward or state level from taking any disciplinary measure against any member of the party’s National Executive Committee.

“The purported suspension is an exercise in futility as it derives its strength majorly from illiteracy, ignorance, gambling and desperation. It has only mischief, drama and propaganda value.”
He said some of the signatories were coerced into signing the documents which contains inconsistent information and should be disregarded by members of the public.
“The chairman, his deputy and legal adviser didn’t sign. The 14th person on the list didn’t sign too.  She was at NKST Ambighir for the Holy Communion,” he added.
