COAS Commisions Projects At Army War College

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya on 30th May 2023, led a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Nigerian Army War College War Gaming Centre, and State-of-the-art facility at Wubassy Barracks Asokoro Abuja.

The COAS in his remarks stated that the construction was aimed at enhancing strategic planning and decision-making capabilities within the Nigerian Army.

He said the event marked a significant milestone in the Army’s efforts to bolster its professional training and operational readiness reiterating that the centre will serve as a hub for simulating military operations, conducting strategic exercises, and refining tactical strategies.

He further expressed his vision for the War Gaming Centre and its importance in the Army’s overall modernization efforts while emphasizing the need for cutting-edge training facilities that would equip officers with the requisite skills and competencies to navigate evolving security challenges.

Equipped with advanced technology and simulation systems, the centre will also provide a realistic and immersive training environment for College students, enabling them to analyze complex scenarios, develop effective battle plans, and enhance their leadership skills.

Earlier the Commandant Army War College Nigeria (AWCN), Major General Bamidele Alabi said the wargaming centre will be a crucial asset in the pursuit of the Colleges’ operational excellence by providing a platform for virtual exercises and strategic simulations, while enhancing decision-making processes and ensure that the participants are well-prepared to face the complexities of modern warfare.

The Commandant also appreciated the COAS for providing resources and speedy commencement of the project. The project is expected to be comissioned before the graduation of AWCN Course 7/2023 in October.

In a related development the COAS commissioned other completed projects in the College which include elevators, electronic billboards, digital screens for lecture halls and syndicate rooms, cladding of AWCN Complex amongst several others.
