Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is currently in a bilateral meeting with a Chinese Special Envoy, led by the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Peng Qinghua, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The team, which arrived at the Villa at about 14:30 GMT, had represented the People’s Republic of China at the Presidential inauguration ceremony on Monday.
Although the details of discussions at the meeting were not disclosed to the media, it is believed that the discussions would center on the strengthening of relations between Nigeria and China under the new Tinubu administration.
The delegation includes the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun and his deputy.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian leader had on Monday evening, after the inauguration ceremony, held similar meetings with envoys and heads of missions of some countries, including those of the United Kingdom, United States, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, Israel, Cape Verde, Somalia and Nicaragua.
