Aanya Igomu-Olagunju, Abuja
The Forum of Governors in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC party in Nigeria says the Nigerian Government is working on implementing the removal of fuel subsidy in a manner that will not be too hard on the people.
The Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State said this while speaking to journalists at the APC National Secretariat shortly after a meeting with the party’s National Working Committee.
While noting that other Presidential Candidates said they would remove fuel Subsidy if elected, Governor Uzodinma said the present administration of President Bola Tinubu is only implementing what the immediate past Buhari government started.
“On the issue of fuel subsidy, all the presidential candidates during the campaigns, all promised that they will remove fuel subsidy.
“The incumbent government before he left, made us to know that fuel subsidy is no longer sustainable. What we are talking about now is the implementation process. How to implement the program in a manner that it will not be too hard on the people. And I think the government is working on it.
“I have confidence on the ability of current president to navigate through the waters and take decisions that will be to the best interest of our people and the country as a nation” Uzodinma said.
Speaking on the election of leadership of the incoming 10th National Assembly, he said the party will continue to convince and talk to stakeholders to resolve issues surrounding the selection.
He further promised that the APC governors will implement the party’s manifesto in their various states.
