Obasa Re-Elected Speaker Of Lagos State Assembly

The Lagos State House of Assembly has re-elected Mr Mudashiru Obasa as the Speaker for the 10th Assembly.

Obasa representing APC-Agege was unanimously re-elected by the 39 lawmakers to lead the Assembly as Speaker for the third consecutive time.

 

This comes after the proclamation of the Lagos 10th Assembly by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat and other top government officials at the chamber of the House.

The lawmakers also elected Mr Mojisola Meranda as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Assembly.

Obasa, the most ranking member of the House, was nominated by Mr Temitope Adewale, member representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency, and was seconded by Mr Sylvester Ogunkelu, member representing Epe II Constituency.

Also, Mr Noheem Adams, the Deputy Majority Leader in the Ninth Assembly, was elected as the new Majority Leader while Mr Adedamola Kasunmu, a member representing Ikeja Constituency II, was elected the Deputy Majority Leader.

Mr Mojeed Fatai, a member representing Ibeju Lekki I Constituency, was elected as the Chief Whip while Mr David Setonji, a member representing Badagry II Constituency, was elected the Deputy Chief Whip.

The 10th Lagos Assembly comprising 40 members, has 19 returning members and 21 new members.

Out of the 40 members, 38 members were elected from the All Progressives Congress, APC and two were from Labour Party, LP
