10th Assembly: Lawmaker pledges to make a difference

The lawmaker representing the Ilorin West/Asa federal constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Muktar Shagaya has promised to deliver the mandate given to him.

Shagaya in a statement after taking his oath of office and oath of allegiance said he will make a difference that outlives his tenure.

While calling on all his constituents to support him in his quest for positive representation, the young lawmaker stressed the need for a shared purpose towards delivering the dividends of democracy.

“Today marks a significant moment in our nation’s history as we come together to inaugurate a new chapter of leadership and progress in the 10th National Assembly. It is with great humility and a deep sense of honour that I stand before you as the newly sworn-in Member of the House of Representatives representing the resilient and dynamic people of Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency.

“This moment fills me with immense gratitude, and a profound sense of responsibility. I am immensely honored and grateful for the trust you have placed in me, and I vow to serve with utmost dedication, integrity, and passion.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Almighty Allah for granting me victory in the elections. I also want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have supported me throughout this journey; His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, my friends, my family, the party executives, and stakeholders alike,” he said.

While dedicating his celebration to his family, friends and constituents, he thanked them for their unwavering support and steadfast guidance.

“I would not be standing before you here today. As we embark on this journey together, we do not know what tomorrow holds, but let us remember that while the challenges we face are seemingly great, so too are the opportunities that lie before us. From education and energy, to healthcare, technology and national security – let me reaffirm my commitment to truly making a difference in the lives of people – a difference for good that outlives my Tenure”.

“Come what may, let us draw strength from our shared values and common purpose and vow to work together to improve the lives of our constituents, uplift our communities, and position our state and Nigeria as a beacon of progress and advancement.

“I truly believe that today, God willing, will mark the beginning of a new chapter in our journey toward progress, development, and prosperity. A chapter in our nation building where our collective power as citizens forges a path of inclusive governance, transparency, and accountability. And so, I would like to express my profound gratitude for your invaluable support and presence again here today. For your prayers, and encouragement, guidance and support. I do not take it for granted. My hope is that we navigate this journey together, guided by the values that define us and create a lasting legacy of service to others.

I believe that God has granted me the ability, and I pray to make you all proud.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt appreciation for your presence today and as you embark on your return journey home, I wish you safe travels.”
