Institute of Project Managers swears in new executives

The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) has inaugurated its new national executives to pilot affairs of the body for the period of a two-year tenure.

 

During the swearing in ceremony on Friday in Abuja, the president Dr Jamilu Yankwashi said the exercise would provoke more reforms that will strengthen the organisation’s activities.

 

He said his leadership will only work with project managers with the requisite qualifications that will deliver on standards.

 

According to him, people that manage projects across the country must be tested and certified on the field.

 

Yankwashi said: “Our inauguration will put the institute into a proper perspective by bringing stability and harness the human and capital development in the institute, this will help us deliver well on our mandate.

 

“This will also help us produce project managers with the requisite qualifications to go into the field and deliver successful projects.

 

“Members that will be found wanting will be disciplined in line with the extend law, which will serve as a deterrent to others.

 

The President, also disclosed that section 4 of the Institute constitution permitted every member right to vote or be voted for as president or vice president for a two terms period of two years per term.

 

While explaining that the tenure of the immediate past leadership of the Institute has ended, and the new leadership under him will soon launch a new era of critical thinking both in the private and public sectors.

 

He pledged that the new council will work towards the realization of the objectives of which the institute was established.

 

“We are aware of our mandate, and we are going to ensure we work towards the mandate.

 

“With the quality of the team that is in the council with me, I am very confident that our mandate will be realized.

 

“I know some of you have filled out your membership certificates, but you have not been given the certificates, under my leadership, I will ensure you have your letters, certificates and practicing license in no distance time.

 

He sought the cooperation of all members of the institute towards achieving the set objectives.

 

The president promised that the council will liaise with relevant ministries and agencies for the tasks ahead.

 

One of the council members, Kelechi Ogbonna, said the association is backed by law and would not fail in the discharge of its duties.

 

The swearing in was conducted by Abdulrahman Ahmad Umar, at Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) conference hall in Abuja.
