The Archbishop, Methodist Cathedral of Unity, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, Most Rev Dr Michael Akinwale, has called on Christian fathers to always be worthy of emulation in all their actions to ensure a better society.

Rev. Akinwale made the call on Sunday in a sermon to mark the 2023 Father’s Day in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The Cleric while expressing concern over the attitude of some fathers who are fast deviating from fatherly roles admonished Christian fathers to always show love and provide for their families.

In his words “Men are the head of each family, and their roles determine what a family society or nation will look like. I urged fathers to be responsible for their divine duties, which is to train their children in the way of the Lord. Live exemplary lives worthy of emulating and having a positive influence on the children,” he said.

He also advised men to be priests in their respective homes and raise holy alters to pray for the family. “Display good Christian character that will inspire the family. Once a family is good, issues of banditry, kidnapping, rape and insecurity will be eliminated. I wish all men will live to their expectations “, he noted.

In his speech, the Cathedral’s Men President, Elder Kola Oyelami,  urged men to have the fear of God in all they do. “The fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom,” he remarked.

He also advised them to lift their families to God always.

Speaking also, the Methodist, National President of the Men’s Fellowship, Mr Kahinde Oladeji, appreciated all men on this day.

He advised Christians to let love lead, saying with love all things are possible.

Mr Oladeji further advised Christians to always pray and support the church and its leadership.

The National President also urged the church to pray for the new administration for a better Nigeria.

Reawakening the spiritual life and leadership roles in Fathers, he admonished them to wake up from their slumber.
