Oyo State Assembly Appoints Principal Officers

The Oyo State House of Assembly has announced the names of its new principal officers for the current administration.

The officers appointed include; the Majority Leader, Sanjo Adedoyin (Ogbomosho South); Deputy Majority Leader, Olasunkanmi Babalola (Egbeda); Chief Whip, Gbenga Oyekola (Atiba), Deputy Chief Whip, Yusuf Adebisi (Ibadan South East 1); and Minority Leader Salami Ayinde (Oorelope).

The names were announced on Tuesday, during the first plenary after the 10th Assembly was inaugurated last week, at the hallowed chamber of Assembly.

Speaking on the appointees, the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, said the officers “were unanimously agreed on to take the leadership positions of the House in the 10th Assembly.”

Similarly, the House announced a seven-man Adhoc Committee to conclude the ongoing investigation of some suspended local government chairmen over misappropriation of funds.

The council areas include Kajola, Iseyin and Saki-West.

The investigation was started by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters of the 9th Assembly but was yet to be concluded before the Assembly was dissolved.

The Adhoc committee would be chaired by the lawmaker representing Ibarapa North/ Central, Peter Ojedokun.

Other members of the committee include Olajide Oparinde, Tunde Kehinde, Babajide Adebayo, Sando Adedoyin, Adeola Bamidele and Akande Opeyemi.
