FCTA Raises Alarm Over Fraudsters, Cautions Public

Authority of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has drawn the attention of the general public that scammers are on the prowl again, targeting top management of the administration.
In a statement signed by the Director, Reform Coordination Service Improvement, Dr Jumai Ahmadu and made available to journalists in Abuja said, unscrupulous persons create social media accounts in the name of senior staff of the administration, with the intent to employ such accounts to lure unsuspecting members of the public into phantom contract deals or fake employment offers.
The statement hinted that in 24 hours, two LinkedIn accounts were opened using the names of staff of the FCTA, all with the aim of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
According to the statement, one of such was created in the name of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adesola Olusade.
It added that, another bore the name of the Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Shehu Ahmed.
It then makes it clear to the general public that neither the Permanent Secretary Mr. Olusade nor the Executive Secretary, FCDA Engr. Ahmed has a LinkedIn account.
It then warned the general public against responding to calls for tenders and/or employment openings in FCTA through the social media.
It went further to explained that government has well established procurement and employment processes which are not publicized through the social media.
While stating that the scheme was only designed to defraud, added that reports have been made and security agencies are in the process of unveiling perpetrators of this felonious act.
The general public are being warmed not to fall prey as victims to these scammers.
