The Anambra State government has assured the Adorable Foundation International, AFI, of strong lasting collaboration to ensure the improved social economic and cultural livelihood of the common man.
The Commissioner for Entertainment, Culture and Tourism, Don Onyenji, gave the assurance during the Group’s courtesy visit to his office in Awka, the state capital, recently.
Onyenij said; “The public service takes less than 5% of the entire population of the country and any state; so the bulk of what makes up our economy is what the individuals contribute through the various businesses and skills they engage in and that is why the government of Professor Soludo is emphasizing skill development and acquisition by setting up ‘one youth, two skills’ programme.
“We are also looking forward to training people in film production to keep opening up the entertainment sector as well as promote, and protect our culture and values which depicts who we are.”
The Commissioner informed them that the Solution government is set to construct a Solution Fun City that will have an amusement park, leisure centre and others around Awka City Stadium, to attract people within and outside Nigeria for fanfare, which will invariably promote the economic growth of the state.
The Commissioner called on the foundation to assist the Anambra people to uphold their culture since it identifies the people’s livelihood.
He urged them to also assist in the promotion of Igbo cultural heritage, values, traditions and norms as it would help in shaping the characters of the younger generation.
The Commissioner reminded the people that Governor Chukwuma Soludo wants them to invest in organic Agriculture to improve their living standards and contribute to the state and nation’s economy.
The AFI Southeast Director, Duke Nwizu noted that the essence of the visit was to solicit lasting collaboration with the state government to facilitate access to sustainable means of livelihood and contribute to a better world.
According to Nwizu, “Adorable Foundation International is a philanthropic organization that seeks to deliver better livelihood, empowerment and assistance to the less privileged, drug addicts, and vulnerable of all ages, classes and tribes.”
Meanwhile, in another official visit to Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Entertainment, Leisure and Tourism, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, he emphasised that the partnership with the state government would open avenues for job opportunities, creativity and quality service delivery.
He added that the state government has been carrying out programmes such as the Anambra Talent Hunt Show, Cultural displays, Ada Igbo Events and tourism expositions to the people.
Presentation of the foundation’s T-shirt and Cap to the Commissioner and the Special Adviser climaxed the occasion.
Present at the occasion were members of Adorable Foundation International (AFI), from the southeastern states.
