Diaspora candidates, people living with disabilities and prison inmates seeking admission into universities and other higher institutions in Nigeria, have been exempted from post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
This was one of the consensuses agreed on by participants at the 2023 policy meeting organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on admissions into tertiary institutions.
The meeting also agreed that candidates from foreign universities seeking admission into Institutions in Nigeria should apply directly to their choice higher institutions and not the board.
The Permanent Secretary, Andrew Adejo who chaired the policy meeting encouraged the institution heads to adhere to decisions made at the meeting adding that all consensuses agreed on must be respected.
The Post UTME exam is a screening test for prospective students in Nigeria applying to study at the university, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
Dissolution of Councils of Tertiary Institutions
Adejo hinted that the process of dissolution of council members and boards of government-owned higher institutions have begun.
He however advised all tertiary institution heads to keep records of activities within the period.
