At the event, the Permanent Secretary of MWAPA, Mrs Oluyemi Kalensawo, urged women to consider their dietary habits as life-saving medicines against diseases. Represented by the Director, Women Affairs Department, MWAPA, Mrs Olufunke Shyllon, the statement quoted the PS as saying, “The aim of this programme is to provide our women residents with foodstuffs and train them on how to properly prepare nutritional meals, in order to achieve a balanced diet which wards off all forms of diseases and sicknesses. Our focus is on women because we understand that a woman is the glue that holds the family together and she is the one who oftentimes prepares meals in the home, as such, if she is equipped with the knowledge of proper nutrition and personal hygiene, she can pass it on to the family and the community at large,” she added.
Kalensawo also added that the ministry will distribute over 600 nutrition packs to beneficiaries on Lagos Island and Eti-Osa Local Governments and subsequently hold a similar programme in Alimosho and Ifako Ijaiye Local Governments.
