South-East Governors in Nigeria have rejoiced with Nigerians on the celebration of the Eid Al-Adha.
The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, on behalf of the State Government, extends hearty greetings and congratulations to the Anambra people and the Muslim community in the state and across Nigeria on this year’s joyous occasion of Eid Al-Adha.
In a statement signed and released by Christian Aburime, the Press Secretary to Soludo, the governor stated that there is no doubt that this annual Sallah celebration holds a special significance for Muslims worldwide, for it commemorates remarkable acts of faith and devotion to God while symbolising a spirit of sacrifice, generosity and goodwill among humanity.
As a government committed to the well-being and prosperity of its citizens and residents, Governor Soludo recognizes the importance of upholding religious freedom and providing an inclusive, secure environment for all.
Above all, Governor Soludo assures maximum security of life and property for all residents and visitors during the holidays and beyond, as all necessary security measures are in place for peaceful celebrations.
May this festival fill our homes with laughter, our hearts with peace, and our lives with abundant blessings.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Francis Nwifuru has called on Nigerian leaders to eschew parochial interest and work towards ensuring that the country gets to the pinnacle of development.
Nwifuru made the call in a message to this year’s Eid Al-Adha.
The Governor said: “For the country to attain greatness, our Leaders should at all times preach peace and unity and display love towards one another irrespective of religious and political affiliations.”
Governor Nwifuru enjoined Nigerians to emulate prophet Ibrahim by extending hands of kindness to their neighbours.
“As you celebrate today, I want to appeal to you to remember the downtrodden who need your help. You must strive to give them a sense of belonging. You must also use this solemn occasion to reflect on the life of prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice and obedience to Almighty Allah,“ Nwifuru said.
The Governor who used the occasion to appreciate Muslims in the state for their steadfastness, pledged to re-dedicate himself to providing selfless service to residents of the State irrespective of religious affiliation.
The Governor however urged Muslims to continue to pray and support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed in the task of moving the nation forward.
Eid Mubarak!
