Lawmaker Donates Food Items, Relief Materials To Inmates, Orphans Artisans

The Member, representing Ikwo/Ezza South Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Comrade Chinedu Ogah has donated food Items, clothes, toiletries and relief materials worth 150 million naira to Muslims, orphanage homes, Artisans, inmates in Abakaliki and Afikpo Correctional Centers in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria.

This was part of activities lined up for his 47th birthday celebration on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023,

Ogah, accompanied by his numerous admirers, elders, youths and supporters also visited Artisans opposite Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium and destitutes at the Old People’s home, Motherless Babies Home, Hausa, Yoruba, Fulani Community to celebrate his birthday and his second tenure as a member of Federal House of Representatives.

Place of corrections

In his speeches, the lawmaker encouraged the destitute, inmates and others, never to lose hope as it is not a place of punishment but a place of corrections.

He appreciated them for voting for candidates of the All Progressives Congress  APC, including the President  Bola  Tinubu, as well as the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State,  Mr  Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, and himself Comrade Chinedu Ogah as Member, Federal House of Representatives Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency.

The Lawmaker further said  “all of you should know that you are here does not mean that your own has finished, it is a moment of trial, and it is for you to redefine your future. I was once here for six months for an offence I don’t know, but when I came out of here, I learned a lot of things, I made new friends, and this place made me understand different kinds of offences”.

 “I am here to encourage you not to be depressed but to forgive”

” Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was in prison and when he was released, he became the President of Nigeria”

“Nelson Mandela was in prison for many years and came out to become the president of South Africa. So also, are most of the great leaders you know today where once in prison”

“I was here for an offence I don’t know, but when I came out, I became a great personality in the society”

It is good to have a history, you need to change to become a great person, just tell yourself the truth and work for a better future,” Ogah advised.

Development and progress

Ogah preached peace and unity among the people as such would foster development and progress in the society.

The Comptroller, Nigeria Correctional Service in Ebonyi State, Mr Chigbata Anthony, Mr Aneke Stephen of Afikpo and the Vice Chairman Hausa Community, Alhaji Idris Deti, thanked the Nigerian Government for reformation in Correctional Centers today in the Country.

They appreciated Ogah for always remembering the prison inmates, Yoruba,  Hausa Communities among others.

It would be recalled that this arms giving of Comrade Chinedu Ogah has become a yearly event as he has been doing it for the past 20 years.
