Transactions on the Nigerian Equities Market ended in the bearish mode on Tuesday as gains from previous day trading could not be sustained.
The all share index depreciated by 1.99% to close at 60,714.80 points being 1,234.20 points lower than 61,949.24 recorded on Monday while the market capitalisation dropped by N672 billion to close at N33, 059 trillion compared to N33,731 trillion the previous day.
The market sentiment also moved into the red territory to close with 44 losers relative to 33 gainers.
At the end of the day’s trading , a total of 1.1 million shares valued at N12.21 billion were traded in 12,194 deals on Tuesday.
Consolidated Hallmark Insurance led the gainers with 10% price gain to close at N0.99k, after it was Eterna with 9.96% price gain and a closing price of
N25.40k then Chams gained 9.88% to close at 0.89k.
Conversely, Lasaco Assurance lost 13.86% to close at N2.30k, followed by PZ Cussons Nigeria with 10% loss and a closing price of N20.70k while Wema Bank came next with a loss of 9.98% to close at N5.23k.
First City Monument Bank Group had the highest volume of 181 million shares for the day and was followed by Sterling Bank with 108 million shares.
