The Governors of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, have resolved to collaborate with the Federal Government on issues concerning the welfare of Nigerians and good governance while striving to maintain the independence and autonomy of the Forum by offering constructive criticisms where necessary.

In a four-point communiqué issued at the end of the maiden meeting of the PDP Governors Forum under the leadership of Bauchi State, Governor Bala Mohammed as Chairman, the meeting resolved to work together and unite the Forum.

“The meeting advised the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the security agencies, and the Federal Government to be neutral in the conduct of the off-season elections in Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo States”.

Governor Mohammed who presented the communiqué on behalf of eleven members of the Forum said “The meeting noted the deteriorating security situation in the country especially the wanton destruction of lives and properties in Plateau and Zamfara States amongst other States. The meeting consequently advised the Federal Government and security agencies to rise to the situation and bring the situation under control”.

He noted that the aim of the Forum is to provide a platform for peer review of issues, policies, programmes and achievements, and legacy projects, of member-Governors across the PDP States.

The Rivers State Governor Siminalaye Fubara was not in attendance, the meeting of the PDP Governors Forum was held on the backdrop of a former Governor of Ekiti State, and a one-time member of the Forum, Ayodele Fayose, publicly declaring his grouse with the PDP leading to the 2023 Presidential election which saw him working for the emergence of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
