The Kano State Government of northwestern Nigeria has released over N1.5 billion for the payment of the National Examination Council registration fees for 57,000 secondary school students in the state.
Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo disclosed while monitoring the commencement of the 2023 NECO examination at Rumfa College, Kano state.
Mr Gwarzo said the gesture was to encourage the students, especially the less privileged.
He restated the administration’s commitment towards uplifting the education sector for the socio-economic development of the citizenry, describing education as the bedrock for any meaningful development in society.
“Our government views investment in the education sector as a vital step towards nurturing the future leaders of tomorrow,”
” I urge the Parents Teachers Association to collaborate with schools in their respective areas to monitor the progress of their children and provide them with the necessary motivation to achieve the desired results.
He also appealed for the cooperation of the citizens in elevating the standards of education both at the primary and secondary school levels.
The state Commissioner for Education, Umar Haruna Doguwa, said the Ministry of Education had established committees to assess boarding schools that were closed by the former administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to reopen them”
