Ebonyi State University Cautions Students Against Anti Social Behavior

The Acting Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, Professor Eugene Nweke has cautioned Matriculants of the University to eschew any behavior capable of destroying their aims of being in the School.

The Acting Vice Chancellor gave the advice while delivering his address during the 25th  Matriculation Ceremony of Ebonyi State University, in Abakaliki the State Capital.

You must remain submissive to the authorities of the University, throughout the period of your study in this institution. For your best interest, be advised as you are hereby warned to desist from unwholesome and anti-social vices as Cultism, Examination Irregularities and misconducts, Drug  Abuse, Armed Robbery, Gender Based Violence and other vices. Ebonyi State University view these offences seriously and offenders will be meted with appropriate punishment and prosecution where applicable.  In this regard, we urge you to report any form of harassments and intimidation towards you to the Heads of Department, Deans, Student Affairs officers and any other University authority without delay for prompt action. Therefore, speak out for EBSU is here to protect and ensure your safety always,” Nweke warned.

Professor Nweke who also represented the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Chigozie Ogbu said “I bring  greetings toyou, from the Vice Chancellor, Elder Distinguished Professor Chigozie Ogbu,who is unavoidably absent, he congratulates you, our fresh students, for achieving this remarkable milestone in your educational journey. Your admission to Ebonyi State University,is not merely a testament to your hard work and dedication,but also a stepping stone towards a brighter and promising future.”

Today, you officially cement your place in the annals of this prestigious institution, as you become a valuable part of the University, that prides itself on holistic development, academic excellence, and a commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals,” he stated.

Professor Nweke said that Ebonyi State University is a choice institution,that has consistently demonstrated its commitment to excellence and has been acknowledged as one of the best State universities in Nigeria, currently ranked 6th among state universities in 2023 Webometric ranking

It may please you to know that all the verified programmes in the University are fully accredited by National University Commission (NUC) and relevant professional bodies. These and more, are remarkable accomplishments that speak volumes about the dedication and hard work put forth by the Visitor, the Governor of Ebonyi State, the Governing Council, the Management,esteemed staff and students,“he said.

Over the years, this citadel of learning has produced numerous leaders of great values, captains of industries and individuals have positively impacted the society. The Visitor to the University and the 4th Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt.Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and his amiable wife Chief Mrs.

He urged them to avail themselves with the University handbooks for guidance.

 

To the parents and guardians of our matriculants, your support and guidance are paramount to the success of your wards in their academic pursuits. I urge you,to be actively involved in their journey, offering them motivation, encouragement, and advice when needed,” he advised.

The Governor of the State, Mr Francis Nwifuru, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Professor Amari Omaka promised to make the University conducive for teaching and learning for both Staff and students.

One of the Matriculants, on behalf of other Students, Mr Elom Samuel of Library Science Department promised to be of good behaviour.
