Multinational Joint Task Force Appreciates Continous Support of Chad

The new Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali has appreciated the Chadian Armed Forces for their support and appealed for more cooperation that would aid in achieving the mandate of the MNJTF.

He stated this during a maiden visit to the Chadian Chief of General Staff, General Abakar Abdelkarim Daoud, on the 26th of July 2023 as contained in a statement issued by the Military Public Information Officer, MNJTF, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi.

Gracious hosts

The Commander acknowledged the Chadian Armed Forces for their role as gracious hosts to the MNJTF Headquarters.

Major General Ali acknowledged General Daoud’s leadership role and consistent support towards the success of the MNJTF while emphasizing the importance of collaboration and cooperation among the member countries to effectively combat the activities of terrorists as well as ensure peace and stability in the Lake Chad basin region.

He highlighted the need for increased support from all member countries, including Chad, in terms of intelligence sharing, manpower, and resources to effectively combat the common enemy.

 

The Chadian Chief of General Staff, General Abakar Abdelkarim Daoud assured the Force Commander and the MNJTF of Chad’s Armed Forces readiness to provide continuous support and assistance towards achieving the mission’s goals.

Special responsibility

He expressed the Chadian armed forces’ commitment to the success of the MNJTF, emphasising that Chad, as the host country’s Chief of Defence Staff, holds a special responsibility towards ensuring the mission’s success.

The visit served as a reaffirmation of the strong cooperation between the MNJTF and Chad, and highlighted the determination of both parties to work together to eradicate terrorism and extremism.
