Nigerian Speaker Names Ekene Adams Sports House Committee Chairman

A member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, Nigeria, Ekene Abubakar Adams, has been named Chairman House Committee on Sports in the 10th House of Representatives.

The House of Representatives Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, named the committees and their chairmen on Thursday.

Adams is no new face in Nigerian sports as his pedigree in football management speaks volumes. Born in 1985, the the new Chairman House Committee on Sports is a Nigerian entrepreneur, politician, an astute sports administrator and former professional footballer.

“Good evening all, I am using this medium to appreciate God Almighty and also thank you all for your prayers and best wishes,” a delighted Adams said.

“I have been appointed as the Chairman House Committee on Sports. To my boss, President of Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne, Kunle Soname and everyone I remain loyal.”

A few years ago, Adams established KADA City FC, a Nigerian football club based in Kaduna to enhance development of football within the State. He was regarded as the youngest football club owner in Nigeria. The official unveiling ceremony was in February 2018.

KADA City won the 2018 Nigeria National League (NNL) promotion playoff over Bendel Insurance FC and made its Nigeria Premier Football League debut in 2019.

The sports administrator later joined Remo Stars as General Manager in 2021. During his time with the Sky Blue Stars, Adams propelled the club in gaining promotion back to the NPFL. After one season in the top flight, Remo Stars earned a CAF Confederation Cup ticket after finishing 3rd on the log behind Rivers United and Plateau United.
