The Speaker, of Kwara State House of Assembly, North Central Nigeria, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has praised the initiative of the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II for setting up the Patigi Education Trust Fund.
Danladi-Salihu who spoke at the 2023 Nko Salah gathering in the Patigi local government area of the state described the initiative as a novel that is capable of supporting the Government’s ongoing efforts in the area of educational revolution.
According to him “the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has invested so much in the education sector during his first term in office, and when he came on board for a second term, he has sent the executive bill – Kwara State Educational Trust Fund to the House of Assembly which is currently receiving legislative attention.”
The Speaker disclosed that everyone knows the importance of education in our respective communities and for Patigi, he would like to commend the monarch for thinking ahead of others (Local Government Areas in Kwara North) to put up this initiative to help the children.
Danladi- Salihu said as the Vice Chairman of Kwara State Traditional Council, he wish to appeal to him, to sell the idea to others (traditional rulers) so that it could spread across the state thereby complementing the efforts of the present administration.
The Speaker assured him of the commitment of the government of Mallam AbdulRazaq to sustain the heavy investment made in the education sector in this second tenure in office as he did during his first term.
The Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Bologi II explained that the rationale behind the trust fund was to complement the government’s educational reform in the state by supporting the less privileged members of the community from primary schools to higher institutions by providing them with scholarships and other learning materials.
Highlights of the programme include; the foundation laying of Patigi Community Radio station, a computer-based test center, the conferment of traditional chieftaincy titles, and cultural displays among others.
Also present at the event are Ahmed Saba, Member representing Edu/Moro/Patigi federal constituency; Musa Kareem Mohammed, Patigi constituency; Muhammad Baba Salihu, Okuta/Yashikira constituency; Musa Mohammed Kareem, Patigi constituency; Ibrahim Liman TIC Chairman Patigi LGA, Mohammed Aliyu, and TIC Chairman Edu LGA; Bello Abubakar.
Others were; TESCOM chairman; Hon. Adam Rufai; Aliyu Kora Sabi Dudu; Jemila Bake; Dr. Mahmud Umar Muhammad, HYPPADEC Director; a former Head of Service, Alhaji Mohammed Dabarako, Dr Baba Kolo Jiya; APC Patigi local government chairman, among others.
