Equities Market Rebounds With N41 Billion Gain

The bullish sentiment returned to the equities market on Wednesday as investors recorded a gain of N41 billion on the market capitalisation to close the day at N34,973 trillion thereby halting the downward trend that began on Monday.

The all-share index rose by 0.12% to close at 64,267.36 points just as trading closed with 31 gainers as against 26 gainers.

At the end of Wednesday’s trading, a total of 340.78 million shares with market value of N4.3 billion were traded in 6,251 deals on the Exchange.

Top on the gainers list for the day was National Salt Company with 10% price appreciation and a closing price of N35.75k. After it was Abbey Mortgage Bank with 10% gain and a closing price of N1.21k and Chams also recorded a 10% gain to close at N0.99k.

On the losing side, Thomas Wyatt Nigeria lost 10% to close at N1.18k, followed by The Initiates also with 10% loss and a closing price of N0.72k then University Press lost 9.78% to close at N2.49k.

Transcorp Nigeria recorded the highest volume of 58.8 million traded shares, followed by First Bank of Nigeria Holdings with 28 million shares.
