Governor Soludo Commissions Ultra Modern Eye Clinic In Anambra State

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, recently commissioned an ultra modern eye centre and other state-of-the-art medical equipment at Diocesan Hospital Amichi, in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Akuluouno project by Sechuwariis Development Foundation, the Commissioner for Environment Engineer Felix Odimegwu who represented Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, pointed out that the state-of-art facilities commissioned is one of it’s kind.

He opined that the Akuluouno initiative by Governor Soludo will go a long way in helping the government while alleviating the suffering of the masses.

“The massive road construction going on in Anambra state will consolidate the various infrastructural development in the state,” he stated.

Presenting his address, Engineer Igweka Uche, alternate chairman of Sechuwariis development foundation, stated that the commissioning of the project will be accompanied with a four 4 days free medical and surgical mission.

“We are following the footsteps of Mr Governor’s administration which entails optimum healthcare services, human capital and infrastrutural development.”

On his part, Sir Eugene Eriobu co-founder Akulueuno social club narrated how the club formed Amichi Community hospital with donated lands from members, which was later handed over to new Amichi diocese in 2009, for proper management.

“The Sechuwariis Foundation on whose invitation we are all here is a mixed phylanthropic group of professionals, medical doctors, academics, lawyers, Engineers, career women, business men and women who collectively and individually deployed enormous resources to the health concerns of Anambra people, with over 3,000 registered patients that receive free drugs, free surgeries ,and hundred free surgeries will be carried out within the four days medical outreach.”

Meanwhile,the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi, Right Reverend Ephraim O. Ikeakor, who made available the hospital facilities to the foundation reiterated that the foundation is purely a charity organization and the contribution of the members are only for humanitarian purposes.

He also called on well- meaning Anambra citizens to follow the, “Akuluounu Trend.”

In appreciation, the board chairman Amichi Diocesan Hospital, Dr Umeononihu Osita thanked the guests and appealed to well- meaning individuals to follow the exemplary model of the Sechuwariis in supporting the church and government’s effort towards the actualisation of universal health coverage.

A Dialysis unit equipped with fresenius 5008S machine with latest software, Digital computer radiography service and diagnostic centre with ultrasound and ECG machines, Ultra-modern eye surgery theatre with zeiss S5 operating teaching microscope, Ultra-modern eye clinic with diagnostic equipment for every eye diseases, Newborn special care unit for pre-mature babies, refurbished accident and emergency unit amongst others, were commissioned.

Sechuwariis as a development foundation is a charity organization made up of selfless, talented and educated Amichi indigenes, committed with great determination to addressing developmental deficits in education, health and social engagement in the town, through timely interventions, including the award of scholarships, periodic medical missions, civic advocacy and the mentoring of the youths.

The foundation, through their yearly medical mission and outreach has engaged Amichi residents and the sick from neighbouring towns for the past two years at the state- of- the- art ultramordern eye, diagnostic eye clinic, and well equipped eye theatre centre at no cost.
