The Nigeria Police Force has rescued a two-year-old child from two alleged traffickers in Delta State, South-south Nigeria.
A press statement by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, indicated that the two-year-old was rescued by operatives of the State Intelligence Bureau, SIB, on the directive of the Police Commissioner, Mr. Wale Abass.
Edafe indicated that the Police Commissioner has advised parents and guardians to exercise caution so as not to fall victim.
Edafe said; “the command received information from a resident of Asaba that her 2 years old child went missing while playing with other children in the compound of her relative, whom she went to visit.
“Based on the information, the Delta State Police Commissioner, Mr. Wale Abass detailed operatives of SIB to embark on an intelligence-led investigation. The team arrested two suspects, one man and one woman. The two-year-old was rescued at Issele-Asagba, where the suspects hid the child. The investigation is ongoing.”

In another development, a suspected notorious cultist, who has been known to foment trouble in the Aghalokpe community and is wanted for his involvement in reported cases of attempted murder, arson, and armed robbery, has been apprehended.
He said; “The suspected notorious cultist was sighted in the community parading with a gun. The Divisional Police Officer of Orerokpe mobilized and led patrol teams to the community, where the suspect was arrested and one locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun and one expended cartridge were recovered from him. The suspect and exhibit are in custody while the investigation is ongoing.”
“The Police Commissioner urged parents and guardians to be cautious and pay close attention to their children and wards in other not to fall, victim, while assuring residents that the command will not allow criminalities to thrive in the State,”he stated.
Edafe added, “the Commissioner has called for support from members of the public especially in the area of providing credible, timely and useful information to the police that would aid in crime prevention.”
