“I am appealing to the Nigerian government to improve sports facilities, it is difficult for us to meet international standards if we do not have modern facilities,” Sesimokumoh said.

“Sports has lots of challenges most especially when it comes to wrestling. It is one of the hardest sports in the industry and also we do not have our personal training hall.”

The wrestler also highlighted his expectations during the Governor Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics.

“My expectations for Team Bayelsa is very high. I believe Bayelsa overall will come out in first position because of the rigorous training we had before the competition,” he said.

“We came first at the National Sports Festival in Delta State and we have been consistent ever since, so we are not expecting nothing less than the best.”

Sesimokumoh, a free style wrestler, from Bayelsa State won his opponent from Delta State 5-0 in his event during the second edition of Governor Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics.

In the same vein, Nigeria’s multiple Commonwealth Games and African champion, Kolawole Esther Omolayo, also gave an insight about the competition.

“Bayelsa State government is really trying, it is not easy to host this type of competition but because of the love the Government has for Youths and Sports that is the reason for the tournament.”

“As altletes, when training at home you will not know your potentials, but organizing this type of competition for us go a very long way,” Omolayo added.

She also advised the Nigerian government to continue their good work in sponsoring the competition in order for young alteltes to have promising careers.
