Standards Organisation urges private sectors to employ more youths

Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), has called on the private sectors to employ more youths in order to reduce insecurity, as well as boost the economy of the country.

The Director North Central of SON, Alhaji Saleh Babaji made the call in Ilorin, Kwara state, during a familiarization visit to Shelter Setters Aluminum, Nigeria Limited.

Babaji noted that the country had some economic and security challenges, but with the new government and its seriousness to service, everything would soon be sorted.

According to him, the nation has challenges of power, but said the only way to solve the problem is to contribute and collaborate with government to make things work, stressing that part of helping the government is for the private sectors to assist in providing employment to people, in order to fight insecurity which in a way, is caused by unemployment.

Babaji observed that when private sector provides more employment, it will reduce the number of unemployed youths drastically and add value to the country’s economy.

The Director urged stakeholders to open up and feel free to express themselves to SON, saying that their observation and advice would help to make the organization perform better.

He urged the private sectors to always see the organization as partner in progress, because they have experts in various fields and that is why they move together during field work to be able to contribute in all aspects.

Babaji urged private companies to be cooperative and committed to their association, saying that it would be a strong force to fight against foreign investors dominating the market with their products.

He reiterated that there should be more of made in Nigeria products available in the market, shopping malls and online, in order to boost the economy and make Nigeria great.

Earlier, the Chairman of Shelter Setters Aluminum, Alhaji Hassan Sani, said that the company has a big ambition and is ready to work with SON in order to achieve what will be of benefit to Nigeria at large.

Sani talked about the company’s products and how the buyers could appreciate and enjoy their products which he said, are durable and of different categories.

The Chairman advised consumers to seek the opinion of manufacturers before buying any product, in order to know what would be suitable for their work.

He explained that some installers are in hurry to work, thereby causing problems to a building roof, whereas a good installer would make justice to a product and allow customers enjoy their services.

In his remarks, the State Coordinator of SON, Mr. Oyebol Ayeni-Oye, disclosed that Shelter Setters Aluminum had been certified by the organisation and the company is cooperative and socially responsible.

Ayeni-Oye noted that the company had been forthcoming in attending the organization programmes and contributes its quota towards development of the state, urging them to continue the good work.
