The Governor of Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria, Mr. Francis Nwifuru has assured the National Youth Service Corps in the State of his continuous support for the Scheme in discharge of their Duties.
The Governor made the Promise during the Swearing-in Ceremony of the 2023 batch ‘B’ Stream ’11’ corps members at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Old Macgregor College Afikpo North Local Government Area of the State.
The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youths and sports Development, Chief Richard Idike, said the state will continue to acknowledge and honour any outstanding who have done well in serving his fatherland.
“Let me assure you of my support as you discharge your lawful duties here in Ebonyi State. We are also determined to acknowledge everyone and to honour outstanding corps members who will distinguish themselves among you,” he added.
Message Of Unity
The Governor advised that “we must avoid any atom of ethnicity, tribalism and nepotism so as to build a nation where peace, political stability, economic development and justice reign”.

On her part, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Nasamu Olayinka during the swearing-in Ceremony said the scheme has been carefully planned and segmented into four cardinal programs; Orientation, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service CDS, the winding up and passing out.
The coordinator added that the essence of the above cardinal programs was to ensure that the aim of establishing the scheme on 22nd May, 1973 was actualized.
Mrs. Olayinka informed that a total of 1,401 were registered, out of which 620 were males while 781 were females.
Also Speaking during the event was the State Coordinator, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Elder Mathew Odonor who encouraged the corps members to always exhibit attitude that can bring all Nigerians together.
The Swearing-in Ceremony was performed by Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Justice Elvis Ngene, who was represented by Justice Nicolas Nwode.
