NGO Trains Stakeholders on Early warning, response to insecurity

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), in collaboration with the Open Society Foundation (OSF), have organized a two-day capacity building training for stakeholders, on early warning and early response mechanisms, to tackle security challenges in Kaduna state.
The Executive Director of CISLAC, Auwal Ibrahim Musa, identified that early warning and early response system can only be effective through a strong connection between Civil Society, the Media, Government and relevant security stakeholders, to carefully monitor indicators of conflict and elicit positive responses, while de-escalating potential crises.
According to him, “the ongoing project, with specific focus on Strengthening Capacity, Advocacy, Accountability and Local Engagement towards Developing Early Warning and Early Response Mechanisms to Enhance Protection of Civilians in Nigeria, is being implemented by CISLAC across the six geopolitical zones” of Nigeria
He said there is urgent need for effective collaboration, coordination and collective support among critical stakeholders, for early warning, conflict prediction and early response mechanisms, which are central in conflict prevention.
On his part, the facilitator of the training, Adejo Sunday, emphasized that early warning exposes the danger or disaster ahead, which will enable the individual respond early and proactively so that they can avoid such dangers.
According to him, Purpose of early Warning is the Prevention, mitigation and preparedness before crisis, during crisis and after crisis.
Speaking also at the event ,Peter Ango, the secretary of Kaduna State Peace Commission, said people must come together to agree in order to achieve successful and prosperous society
While appealing to all to come together in assisting the security personnel in carry out their duty through Early warning and Early response, Ango added that it is the responsibility of all to monitor their immediate environment.
