Nasarawa State Police Command Parades 19 Suspected Criminals

The Nasarawa State Police Command has paraded 19 suspected criminals and recovered three firearms and 11 pieces of ammunition. 

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Ramhan Nansel stated this in the command’s Headquarters in Lafia the state capital.

Nansel said among the 19 suspected criminals, a 38-year-old Abubakar Saidu and his wife have succeeded in stealing a two-year-old neighbour’s son.

 

He said; “On 13/08/2023 at about 1530hrs, one Adamu Abdullahi ‘M’ of orange market Mararaba, Karu LGA reported that his 2yrs old son has been missing for two weeks and all efforts to trace his way about proved abortive; However, on the same date, he received a call from an unknown person demanding a ransom of two million, five hundred thousand naira (#2,500,000.00).

Upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives were deployed to go after the abductors. Consequently, the following suspects, namely Abubakar Saidu 38 yrs, Yusuf Yusuf 23 yrs, and Haruna Garba, 50 yrs, all males of orange market were arrested in connection to the crime.”

Speaking, the suspect agreed to the crime and regretted his action.

He said; “I regret my role in the kidnapping of the two-year-old boy. The parents are my closed-door neighbours; I needed money, which is why we stole the child. It was in the process of negotiating for the ransom that the police tracked us down and arrested us.”
