Nigerian troops receive commendation for professionalism at Peace keeping operations

The Acting Head of Mission, and Force Commander, Major General Benjamin Sawyer, has extolled the troops of Nigerian Army for their high level of discipline and professionalism in peace support operations.
General Sawyer stated this when he paid a two-day visit to Nigerian Contingent (NIGCON 1) Camp of peacekeepers in Sudan.
He commended the dedication and operational conduct of the contingent in securing the Force Headquarters (FHQ) Camp.
He also commended the Contingent Commander, Colonel Esidiong James Nkereuwem, for his purposeful and visionary leadership that has prevented and stopped the issue of thefts within the FHQ Camp.
In a statement by the Acting Public information officer, Nigerian Contingent-1, United Nations Interim Security Force (UNISFA) for ABYEI, Captain Abubakar Hammanga, it says General Sawyer further expressed his satisfaction with the camp’s infrastructure and maintenance.
He acknowledged the efforts made by the Contingent Commander for creating a conducive living environment for the peacekeepers.
Earlier, the Contingent Commander, Colonel Esidiong James Nkereuwem, briefed the Head of Mission on the unit’s activities and achievements since arriving the area.
The highlights of the visit were interactive session with troops, presentations of souvenirs, Signing of Visitors Book and tree planting by the Acting Head of Mission.
