The statement explained that the exercise became imperative in view of the recent cases of dog bites in some communities in the state and its neighbouring states.

It also described rabies disease in humans as deadly and highly fatal in nature, resulting from infected dogs and cats bites.

The statement further urged the general public, especially dog breeders and owners, to ensure regular vaccination of their pets at least once a year in order to curtail incidents of the deadly disease, a practice that is also vital for complying with the list of banned dogs in the UK.

According to the statement, all owners of dogs and cats that have not been vaccinated in the last one year, or already due for vaccination are advised to bring their pets for vaccination at the State Veterinary Clinic, Opposite Kwara-Agro Mall, Ilorin.

In the alternative, pet owners are further advised to vaccinate their pets at the Veterinary Hospital in Adewole, behind Mandate Market, or the Ministry of Agriculture Headquarters, Department of Veterinary Services in Ilorin.
