Kano governor vows to renovate Muhammad Wase Teaching Hospital

Governor Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed displeasure over the dilapidated condition of Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital within the metropolis following an unscheduled on-the-spot assessment of the hospital. This was contained in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr. Bature Dawakin-Tofa, on Saturday.

Yusuf noted that the teaching hospital meant for training medical professionals and provision of tertiary medical care needed to be equipped with modern facilities to enhance knowledge and service delivery.

The governor said that the hospital would be renovated and expanded to boost its services, especially maternity services and care for the children.

“It is disheartening to meet the hospital that caters for the medical needs  of thousands of patients daily in a condition uncomfortable for human inhabitation; a situation that needs to be checked and corrected,” Yusuf said

He assured that the state government would ensure the provision of modern health facilities to improve quality healthcare services for the people.

“I do instruct the management of the hospital to as a matter of urgency forward the request for rehabilitation and expansion of the hospital for immediate action to restore the lost glory of the gigantic health facility,” he directed.

Yusuf also charged medical personnel of all cadres to be at their duty posts when due and to discharge their duties according to stipulated rules for the people of the state and beyond.

He also assured residents that the state government would do all it takes to execute policies that have a direct impact on the lives of people in the state, especially the downtrodden.
