Army School Graduates Soldiers in Basic Battle Course

3 Division Nigerian Army (NA) has graduated young soldiers trained on Basic Battle Courseat in a graduation ceremony held at the 3 Division Auditorium, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos Plateau State.

Speaking at the ceremony held on Thursday 28 September 2023, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar called on the graduands to deploy skills acquired to swiftly respond and deal with emerging threats to the security of lives and properties of the citizenry.

According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations 3 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Ishaku Takwa, General Abdulsalam stated that the scourge of insecurity in the country and the world at large requires consistent training to develop the capacity of troops to safeguard the lives and properties of law-abiding citizens.

The GOC who was represented by the Commander 3 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Michael Agi, pointed out that the training of young soldiers which is battlefield-specific, becomes even more necessary to achieve envisaged battlefield results.

He further stated that the Nigerian Army has prioritized training as a means to equip its personnel with the necessary professional knowledge and skills in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy which is to “Transform the NA into a Trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving Our Constitutional Responsibilities in a Joint Environment”.

Earlier in a remark, the Division Training Officer(DTO), Colonel Aminu Aliyu revealed that the training received will further equip the young soldiers to face all forms of security challenges within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.

He appreciated the GOC/Commander OPSH for his visionary leadership and strategic guidance, especially in developing the curriculum for the training of the young soldiers.

Presenting the course highlight, the Chief Instructor, 3 Division Training School, Major FA Akingboju said the young soldiers were adequately trained in Tactics, Drill, Physical combat training as well as weapon handling and Fieldcraft.

The training curriculum included ethics, regimentation and warrior ethos all aimed at better preparing the young soldiers battle-ready for the theater of operations. The ceremony featured a presentation of certificates to graduates and group photographs.
