Independence: Emir of Ilorin, Speaker, Lawmaker Congratulate Nigerians

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has rejoiced with Nigerians over the 63rd Independence Anniversary of nationhood stressing that peaceful co-existence is germane for national growth and development.

He also commended the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his quality leadership and appealed to Kwara residents to continue to pray for unity and harmony in the State and Nigeria at large.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, extolled the virtues of heroes such as the late Sardauna of Sokoto and Premier of Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Cheif Obafemi Awolowo among other nationalists who struggled vigorously for Nigeria to become a sovereign nation on 1st October 1960.

The Emir who described traditional institutions as an integral part of national peace and security noted that the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council will continue to support governments at all levels in other to sustain peace and harmony in the state.

On behalf of the entire members of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, however, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of the State and Nigerians at large for this year’s Independence anniversary celebrations.

He, therefore, urged the people of Ilorin Emirate and beyond to continue to remain peaceful, prayerful and love each other and shun all acts capable of causing rancour in the society.

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly,   Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 63rd independence anniversary and commended their resilience thus far.

Danladi-Salihu in his independence message to Nigerians harped on the need to remain supportive (to Nigerian leaders), patriotic, committed and dedicated to building a nation everyone would be proud of.

“Dear compatriots, It’s with great pleasure that I congratulate you on this auspicious occasion of the nation’s 63rd independence anniversary. Sixty-three years since Nigeria gained her sovereignty, there have been challenges and success stories to tell as our leaders continue to strive hard to make sure Nigerians continue to enjoy dividends of democracy”, the Speaker noted.

“Our unity and diversity expressly enunciate our strength, needless of rhetorical amplification. Let us remain patriotic, committed and dedicated to the common goal of making Nigeria the best place anyone can be proud of in Africa and beyond”, he added.

“I want to commend Nigerians for their resilience and appeal for more patience, understanding and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq as they steadily harnessed all resources and throughput to find lasting solutions to the current challenges facing us, especially the effect of fuel subsidy removal that has affected all and sundry”

Independence Day Celebration: Senator Sadiq Salutes Kwarans, Nigerians

The Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District and Chairman Senate Committee on Trade and Investment,  Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar has rejoiced with Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 63rd independence anniversary.

In a statement issued by his media team in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, the Senator called on all citizens as well as the government to continue to work for the unity, peace and progress of the country.

“As we celebrate 63rd years of nationhood today, we must all as a people, pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our heroes past and endeavour to support the government at all levels, traditional institutions, religious bodies, political and opinion leaders at different organizations to continue working for the unity, peace and progress of this great country of ours. This is indeed a clarion call for all Nigerians to obey.

“There is no doubt that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria and I call on all Nigerians home and abroad to explore every democratic tool available for the greater good of this nation,” he said.

The  Senator stated further that the National Assembly being a democratic institution and vital organ of the government will continue to implement laws that will foster unity, progress and growth of this nation through the provision of the needed legislative framework that will align with the developmental modules of our heroes past.

He enjoined and urged Nigerians not to despair during these trying times of nation-building but rather, admonished Nigerians to pray and support their leaders and have faith in them while they pilot the affairs of this great nation in line with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of Mr President.

He stressed that with a united and peaceful democratic system,  nothing is impossible to achieve in Nigeria.
