The General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the BSN, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, stated this on Friday when the society donated 10 sets of Braille Bible to the National Braille Press/Library in Lagos.

“I also want to lend our voices to the recent call by the Centre for Citizens of Disabilities and the European Union Support for Democratic Governance in Nigeria, to ask the government at all levels to consider appointing people with disabilities into government positions across the country,” he said.

Sanusi claimed many PWDs were qualified to be appointed, noting that excluding them from such appointments was against the dictate of equity, just and fairness.

This is part of the ways to form an inclusive government and make them have a sense of belonging,” he said.

The BSN boss also called on well-meaning Nigerians and the government to support the donation of Braille materials in other disciplines to the National Braille Press/Library, which was under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

Receiving the donated Braille Bibles, the Head of National Braille Press/Library, Mrs Abiodun Osifoluke, appreciated the society for the donation.

According to her, since she was posted to the National Braille Press/Library two years ago, it was only the press that had been working, and the library had been empty.

She urged Nigerians to emulate the BSN and donate audio and Braille books to the library.

Meanwhile, the BSN organised the 5th edition of ‘You Can Be Their Eyes Bible Competition’ for the visually impaired in Lagos on Thursday.
