Nigeria-Britain Association Honours Amb. Isola for Meritorious Service
The Nigeria-Britain Association has honoured the High Commissioner of Nigeria to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Amb. Sarafa Isola, for his excellent and meritorious service to Nigeria.

The President of the Association, Mr Sola Oyetayo, in a statement on Monday in Lagos said that the Nigerian envoy had gone the extra mile to promote the national interests of the country.
Oyetayo, who said that he presented the award to Isola in London at the weekend, commended the envoy for giving his best to Nigeria while also inspiring Nigerians in diaspora.
He commended the Nigerian envoy for challenging the association to evolve a strategy and roadmap.
“You evaluated it, and you believed in us and gave us the kind of support that we did not receive from any High Commissioner to the United Kingdom in recent years,” he stated.
Oyetayo noted that the Ambassador’s insistence on innovative development planning among Nigerians had improved the socio-economic prosperity and status of Nigerians in the United Kingdom.
“Amb. Sarafa Isola has had a fulfilling professional and public career which stands him out as a nationalist of no mean repute.
“His ability to lead in ways that prioritize the holistic promotion of the national interests of Nigeria at various levels, even prior to his appointment as High Commissioner, is a reference point that underscores national public service,” he noted.
Oyetayo described Isola as a statesman of note whose managerial exploits had been popularly applauded at home and abroad.
The envoy was a former Secretary to the Ogun State Government and had served as Nigeria’s Minister of Mines and Steel Development in the administration of late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
It is worth noting that all career ambassadors and non-career ambassadors were recalled by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last month, September 2023.
The ambassadors are expected to commence the winding down of their affairs in their countries of deployment, take formal leave of the host government within 60 days and return to Nigeria by October 31, 2023 at the latest.
