Salma Attah Foundation for Women and Girls has held a summit known as Ignite Her Summit 1.0 in Niger State, North Central Nigeria in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child.
The summit aimed at empowering the next generation of leaders.
The Girl students from various schools in the state engaged in dynamic discussions, workshops, quizzes, and debates at the event. The activities were designed to cultivate critical thinking, enhance leadership abilities, and bolster self-confidence among the participants.
Team Leader of Salma Attah Foundation for Women and Girls support, Amrah Aliyu says: “We believe in the potential of every young girl to shape the future. Ignite Her Summit 1.0 was not just an event; it was a movement to empower, inspire, and uplift. The active participation of students from various schools and the support from esteemed guests like Mary Noel Berje and Hajiya Adama Lami Ibrahim emphasized the importance of collective efforts in nurturing young leaders.”
The meeting emphasized the theme of the year “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership and Well-being,” aligning with the International Day of the Girl Child.
The event also provided a platform for attendees to delve into essential topics such as girl child education, leadership, and gender equality.
Through insightful panel discussions and interactive sessions, students had the opportunity to learn from strong female role models, gaining valuable insights into diverse fields.
The summit however recognised outstanding participants and awarded certificates for their active participation and dedication. The top three schools, Ali Ali International School, Fomwan Islamic School, and Old Airport School were lauded for their exemplary engagements.
Ignite Her Summit 1.0 underscored the importance of investing in girls’ education and leadership by encouraging dialogue, fostering mentorship, and providing a safe space for self-expression.

Inspiring figures and eager young minds from 11 schools attended the event, including Special Adviser to the Niger State Governor on Affirmative Action and Hajiya Adama Lami Ibrahim from the Ministry of Education, who represented the Commissioner of Education.
