Oyo State Governor Constitutes Elders, Advisory Council

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has constituted both the Oyo State Elders’ Council and the Oyo State Advisory Council.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, said the former Chief of Staff to former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, Dr Saka Balogun, would serve as Chairman, while a former Minister of Power and Steel, Wole Oyelese, would be co-Chairman of the Oyo State Elders’ Council.

It said other members of the Elders’ Council, according to a letter dated 12 October, and signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, include a former Deputy Governor of the state, Hameed Gbadamosi; a former First Lady, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja; Jacob Adetoro, Sunday Ogunlade, Amb. Ronke Adefope, Nureni Akanbi and Ademola Eyinade.

On the other hand, the letter discloses that the Oyo State Advisory Council would be chaired by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Bolaji Ayorinde.

Members of the Advisory Council include a former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu; Senator Hosea Agboola; Senator Gbenga Babalola; Oyo State SDP Governorship Candidate for the 2023 election, Barrister Michael Lana; former AD Whip at the House of Representatives, Hon Babatunde Oduyoye; and Senator Kamorudeen Adedibu.

The governor announced that four other members of the Advisory Council would be named in due course.

While congratulating members of both councils, the governor urged them to contribute their quota to the continued development of the state and the realisation of the Oyo State Roadmap for Sustainable Development.
