Anambra State Emerges Best Local Government Service Commission in Nigeria

The best Local Government Service Commission in Nigeria has been awarded to Anambra State for the adoption of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
The award ceremony was organized by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms of the Presidency under the auspices of Nigeria Govtech Public Service Awards.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Honourable Anthony Collins Nwabunwanne, Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Chief Vincent Ezeaka received the award on behalf of the government and people of the state.
The Transition Committee Chairman for Aguata Council Area, Dr. Offorbuike was awarded the best Digital Local Government Chairman of the year.
They were given the Distinguished Govtech Trailblazers Award for the exemplary leadership demonstrated in advancing Govtech initiatives and digital transformation agenda for Nigeria’s Public Sector.
Speaking to Voice of Nigeria, Honourable Nawbunwanne appreciated Governor Soludo for the opportunity to serve the state, promising to do more, especially at the grassroots, majorly made up of the masses. According to him, “I dedicate this award first, to His Excellency, Professor Chukwuma Soludo for his doggedness in fighting to get what belongs to the masses and improve our society and democracy. Secondly, I also dedicate it to the people of Anambra State.”
The Commissioner emphasised that the first line of charge for the present administration is respect for the rule of law which is being greatly replicated by the ministry in Anambra communities.
“Under Governor Soludo’s mandate, we are able to match out his vision and mission within this short period in office. It is an incredible privilege to be recognized for our dedication to promoting and upholding the principles of democracy in Anambra Communities.
“Democracy is not just a political system, it is a way of life. It is about ensuring that every individual has the right to participate in society and have a say in their own governance. It is about the freedom to express oneself and the right to be heard.
As Ambassadors of democracy in this administration, we always strive to promote and uphold these principles in our personal and professional lives. We have worked tirelessly to empower people to participate in the democratic process, to ensure that their voices are heard and their opinions are represented”, the Commissioner stated.
In their different reactions, Chief Ezeaka and Mr Offorbuike revealed that a lot of innovations have been introduced by the present administration of Governor Soludo into the system, saying that his manifesto is the key to a liveable and prosperous homeland.
Earlier, the Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, D.I Arabi said the efforts of President Tinubu’s administration are geared towards improving the life of the common man on the street, leveraging technology.
The member representing Ihiala Federal Constituency, Dr. Paschal Agbodike congratulated the award recipients for making Anambra proud.
Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission(ICPC), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), among other agencies and individuals received the different classes of award.
However, It is noteworthy that GovTech is a whole of government approach to public sector modernization. It emphasizes three aspects of public sector modernization: citizen-centric, universally accessible public services, and a whole-of-government approach to digital government transformation.
The theme of the event was Advancing Public Service Reforms through digital transformation. The event took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
