Authority of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) says it is reviving critical social facilities located at its six Area Councils.
This indication emerged from the ongoing Area Councils tour by the Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Ibrahim Aminu.
Aminu said the administration will revive those facilities that can be revived immediately and put them to use, while those that require long time planning will also be giving necessary attentions.
He re-affirmed his commitment to actualize the mandate of the Social Development Secretariat, which according to him, is the provision of social services to the residents of the territory.
Facilities visited today in company of other senior officials of the Secretariat include, Ushafa Pottery Centre, Bwari Mini Stadium in Ushafa, Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre Kuchiko-Bwari, Women Development Centre Zuba and also Lugbe Vocational and Training Centre.
The Mandate Secretary who did not hide his displeasure over the deplorable conditions of some of the facilities visited, directed relevant departments in charge of such facilities to ensure they compiled a comprehensive report about the current state of the facility including challenges with pictorial evidence and forward it to his office for onward presentation to the minister.
He was visibly unhappy at the very bad shape of abandoned Bwari Mini Stadium in Ushafa, which its construction had been stalled despite the fact that about fifty percent of the funds have been paid to the contractor handling the project, it was gathered.
Aminu promised to report the level of things he has seen so far in the course of the tour to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike and Mariya Mahmoud as he described the duo as promoters of renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
