The Adamawa State government in collaboration with USAID and GIZ have organised a three-day retreat for the twenty-four Commissioners and thirty-one Permanent Secretaries of the State on good governance.

The Governor of Adamawa State Governor, Amadu Fintiriat at the retreat with the theme: Consolidating on Good Governance: Issues and Perspective for Adamawa State called for concerted efforts among his cabinet for the achievement of his eight-point agenda in his second tenure.

Governor Fintiri’s eight points agenda centered on environment and climate change, security of life and property, urban and rural water supply, education and human capital development.

Others are agricultural production value chain development and food security, urban and rural mass transportation, health and human services and urban renewal and rural infrastructure.

According to the governor, these are carefully thought through to address the challenges of development in Adamawa State in the second term.

They are part of the ingredients that formed the promises we made to the people during our electioneering campaign. It is my fervent expectation that this retreat enables every member of this team the ability to understand the new direction and commits fervently to ensuring that we collective deliver on it,” the governor said

Is not only apt but an endorsement that we have done well with the mandate of last term and we can do better with the renewed mandate we have just been sworn in to as far as good governance is concerned.  It is therefore a commendation for a job well done but most importantly a charge to do better and more as we forge ahead,” he said

In the last term through the four globally recognised prerequisites for good governance: Accountability, Transparency, Participation and Predictability, Adamawa State delivered all the items on its 11-Point Agenda.

Governor Fintiri therefore urged the participants to be recommitted to consolidating on the gains of good governance as they joined the team for rebuilding of a newer Adamawa state where no one is left behind and nothing is left untouched.
