The Governor of Kano State in Northwest Nigeria, Abba Kabir Yusuf, said his administration is not interfering with the activities of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Governor Yusuf stated this on Thursday at the opening ceremony of a one-day anti-corruption symposium on the roles of law enforcement agencies in the fight against corruption in Kano.
The symposium was organised by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission in conjunction with the State Police Command.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Baffa Bichi, Governor Yusuf said: ”My administration is not interfering and will not interfere in the activities of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
“Just on Wednesday, a Kano State High Court delivered a judgement in favour of the commission. The court ruled that the commission has the jurisdiction to investigate any alleged corrupt case in the state.”
In his remark, the chairman of the commission, Mr. Muhyi Magaji, said the objective of the symposium was to enhance synergy between it and the security agencies geared towards achieving the set objectives.
He vowed that the commission would not relent in the ongoing fight against corruption in the state.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, said the command and other security agencies would continue to accord the necessary support to the commission to bolster the fight against corruption.
The symposium attracted participants from all the security agencies in the state and other stakeholders in the fight against corruption.
