Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has intensified efforts to improve the security of lives and property in Kaduna State.
The President is also focusing on boosting security in the Northwest region of Nigeria, recognising the urgent requirement for security assistance and intervention in the area.
Kaduna State Governor, Sani Uba made these known on Tuesday after a closed-door meeting held with President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.
The Governor confirmed that he recently held multiple meetings with the service chiefs adding that it is evident that additional military personnel were required in places such as Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Idebi, as well as certain local government areas around Zangon Kataf, Kaura, and specific areas in Southern Kaduna.
“And of course, he has stepped up his effort of ensuring that the military generally has considered Kaduna as one of the most important states that need this serious security, support and intervention because as you’re aware, security is something to do with the federal government, particularly when it comes to the issue of the service chiefs, the police and the Department of the State Security Service and, of course, as someone who has been in National Assembly for four years before being the governor, I know we need the support of the federal government and Mr President, in particular for us to be able to address the problem of insecurity in our states.
“Of course, I had a series of meetings with the service chiefs, only recently and of course, we need some more boots on the ground in areas like Birnin Gwari, Giwa, and Idebi as well as some local governments around Zangon Kataf, Kaura and some axes of Southern Kaduna.” Governor Uba added.
Uba who said that the President had been providing leadership and guidance for his administration in the governance of the State disclosed that the Nigerian leader has facilitated partnerships between the Kaduna State government and Federal government Ministries and agencies in the areas of health and agriculture.
“We need the federal government’s support. He has been supporting us. He has been giving us the leadership and guidance. And I want to say here that most of the things we’re doing in Kaduna without the federal government support and the President’s support we might not achieve a few of them. So I’m happy particularly like I said in the area of security.
“As a leader, he has been certainly very supportive of what we’re doing in Kaduna. I’m happy also to inform some people of my state that we have a president who has taken Kaduna very seriously, and he is helping us in areas that we as a state cannot be able to attend to or maybe handle it.
“We have some areas where we need the President’s intervention and support, especially in the area of Security as well as all other important programmes of our government that have to do with agriculture and healthcare. I came here to discuss with the President who has been supportive of what we’re doing in Kaduna. So it is just a follow-up, on what he has been doing for us and today I came also to remind him about other areas.” The Governor added
