He pledged that the lawmakers would not hesitate to legislate laws that would aid the sports writers to carry out their duty of educating members of the public on sporting activities going on in the state.
Rt Hon. Udeze, who congratulated the newly elected SWAN executive on their victory, charged them to come up with programmes that would impact both her members and the public.
He said it had become pertinent for those in leadership positions to do things differently in order to achieve the desired results rather than doing things the old way.
“It is in the same vein that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is coming up with programmes and policies that will impact on the people, including the reconstruction of several failed roads and the commencement of new ones across various communities in the state,” he noted.
Earlier in a speech, the chairman of SWAN, Anambra State chapter, Mr Chimezie Anaso, noted that the Legislature, as a strategic arm, is crucial to the success of Anambra State government under Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
He appreciated the legislative support provided by the state’s 8th Assembly through approvals and oversight, affirming that the lost glory days of Anambra State in sports have returned.
Mr Anaso said as partners in the sports sector business, SWAN has played its role and is disposed as ever to work with the Anambra State government to amplify these successes.
The SWAN chairman also briefed the speaker about the activities of the organization including the upcoming SWAN WEEK scheduled for December.
