Basketball League: Oluyole Warriors players praised for performing well
Taiye Sobogun, Head Coach of Oluyole Warriors of Ibadan, on Friday said his basketballers have played beyond his expectations at the ongoing 2023 Nigeria Basketball Premier League Atlantic Conference Playoffs.
Sobogun siad the players have been impressive in spite of having less than a week to prepare for the competition.
“We started our preparations on Oct. 16 and I didn’t even think my players will perform to this extent.
`I appreciate and commend the players for performing well in all the matches, putting in their utmost best. They gave it all in the matches as best as they could, and approached them as they came,” he said.
The coach said it was exhilarating for him that they have qualified for the next round of the competition even before matches at the Ibadan Centre were concluded.
“We’ve played five games and won four. We are hoping to win our last match on Saturday, against the Hoops and Reads of Lagos.
”But winning it does not really affect us, because we have qualified for the next phase with what we have done so far,” he said.
Sobogun said his team would return to the drawing board immediately the Ibadan Centre’s competition ends on Saturday.
“We will resume training on Monday to prepare for the next phase, even though we don’t know the venue yet. To excel we have to start preparations in earnest,” he said.
