SWAN sues for peace in Anambra Sports Commission, AnSFA crisis
In an effort to promote sports development in Anambra state, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter, has made a plea to the Anambra Sports Development Commission and the Anambra State Football Association (AnSFA) to put an end to their conflict.
Recall that a staff member of the Sports Commission named Chijioke Onyedika was banned by the AnSFA for five years due to alleged anti-football activities. However, the commission overturned the penalty, claiming that the FA had the authority to do so.
The Commission said Onyedika was only carrying out his duty assigned to him by the government as its staff and did not belong to the board of the AnSFA.
A statement, signed by Chimezie Anaso and Ikenna Nwokedi, SWAN Anambra Chairman and Secretary respectively, on Friday in Awka, called for the immediate and total cessation of hostilities by all parties.

It said that the association frowned at the inflammatory comments made by the bodies and their proxies, noting that the face-off was not healthy for the progress of sports in the state.
“SWAN is reacting, not only because it was copiously copied in the letters by both parties, but as a critical stakeholder in the Anambra sports sector.
“We express our willingness to mediate with a view to finding amicable resolution to the issues.
“We appeal for an amicable and harmonious administrative environment for progressive development of sports,” it said.
