President Tinubu Appoints Executive Commissioners for Upstream Commission

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of three new Executive Commissioners to serve in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

 

Representing the Northwest is the Executive Commissioner, of Exploration and acreage Management, Mr. Bashir Indabawa, Mr. Enorense Amadasu represents the South-south as the Executive Commissioner of development and production while Mr. Babajide Fasina will serve as the Executive Commissioner of economic Regulation and Strategic Planning. He represents the South-west.

 

The President also approved the redeployment of Dr. Kelechi Ofoegbu, a current Executive Commissioner, representing the Southeast as the Executive Commissioner of Corporate Services and administration.

 

Confirmation of Dr Ofoegbu’s appointment is also pending awaiting the Nigerian Senate endorsement.

 

President’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale stated that the Nigerian Leader approved the replacement based on an assessment of all factors concerning the sector to establish a regulatory framework.

“The President approves this reshuffling and replacement based on his deeply informed assessment of all factors concerning the sector to establish a regulatory framework and culture that comprehensively disincentivises errant behaviour and incentivizes diligence and rules-based business practice across the industry.”
