Israeli Tanks Surround Hospitals: UN Calls Gaza ‘Hell On Earth’
Israeli tanks surround several hospital in Gaza, Health officials say, as UN’s humanitarian office issued statement describing Gaza as a “hell on Earth.”
“If there is a hell on earth, it is the lives of children in Gaza,” António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, said in an opening remarks.
With every passing day, the risk that the violence could spread beyond Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory grows, he cautioned.
Gutierrez called on Israel to exercise maximum restraint.
Several hospitals are among the civilian infrastructure targeted in another night of heavy bombardment.
At least 10,812 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. In Israel, the death toll stands at more than 1,400.
